I was looking at different sites for animal shelters to make a link list for people in Sweden who would like to give a shelter-cat a forever-home, when I found this short article about a fire outside of Nybro. A cat shelter burn down to the ground today, January first.
I have just received an sms from Jenny from Katthemmet Kompis and what they need most right now is cat food and money.
This is a tragic event, but the help they need should come from local sources. So to everyone outside of Sweden, please forgive me for continuing in Swedish only for the rest of this post.

Jag höll på med att skriva in en länklista över katt- och djurskyddshem i Sverige, när jag såg det här meddelandet på Katthemmet Kompis' hemsida:
Katthemmet Kompis har brunnit ner
Katthemmet Kompis brann i natt ner till grunden. Brandkåren är fortfarande där. Många katter är räddade, några sprang ut i skogen. Vi vet fortfarande inte hur många som omkom i branden. Hela vårt stora matförråd brann ner, så vi är i stort behov av mat. Orsaken till branden är fortfarande oklar.
Vi gråter och är väldigt chockade!

Vi är tacksamma för allt stöd! Maritha och Sonny tar dock inte emot några telefonsamtal.

hello sara katt its dennis the vizsla dog hay that is sad nooz!!! the shelter wot i went too after i wuz first reskyewd frum the canyon wuz layter destroyd by fire and menny kittens and puppeez wer kild as it wuz ware the yunger animals wer kept so sad!!! ok bye
Thank you Dennis for your concern. Apparantly there are enough surviving cats that feeding them is a problem. The food supply was destroyed. Some cats ran away into the woods and may or may not be in good condition. They don't know how many cats were killed in the fire yet
I have gotten word that there are several collection-stations outside of foodstores where anyone can donate cat food.
I am trying to spread the word to anyone in Sweden that may be able to lend a paw or hand.
They need money.
